Ingredients
- 4 Pokka Reindeer Hamburger patties
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 4 slices of smoked cheese
- extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil
- a little melted butter, for brushing
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
- lettuce leaves
- tomato slices
- mayonnaise
Method
- If the patties are frozen, thaw them in the fridge. Heat a little oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and fry the onion, stirring now and then, until golden, 8–10 minutes. Set aside.
- Brush the patties with oil on both sides and season them lightly with salt and pepper. Heat a grill or a griddle pan until hot.
- Grill the patties for 4 minutes. Turn them carefully, brush the tops with melted butter and put a slice of smoked cheese on each. Cover with a lid and cook for another 3–4 minutes, until the patties are cooked through and the cheese has melted. Toast the cut sides of the buns on the grill at the same time.
- Spread mayonnaise on both halves of each bun. Lay lettuce on the bottom halves, add tomato slices and season with salt and pepper. Top with a patty and a spoonful of the fried onion and close with the top halves of the buns.
